The Town of Truckee's annual July 4th parade brings history and the vibrant energy of this quaint mountain town to life in one of the Sierra's highest regarded traditional Independence Day parades. The parade celebrates everyone in the Truckee community that enjoys life in the mountains every day or when visiting. Featuring a variety of elements, including a pancake breakfast and the pre-parade 'Firecracker Mile', the parade travels over a mile and features numerous floats, parade entries, and special performances. Kids and adults from near and far line the main drag of Historic Downtown Truckee to catch a view of the action - and maybe a few candies or beads tossed from the floats. Performances from numerous local organizations, including the Railroad Regulators, dance troupes and more are spaced throughout the parade. Red Nose Day is a fundraising campaign run by the non-profit organization Comic Relief Inc. Red Nose Day brings people together to have fun, raise money and change the lives of kids who need our help the most. Red Nose Day launched in the US in 2015, dedicated to ending child poverty, both in the US and in some of the poorest communities in the world. The money raised by Red Nose Day in the US has benefited programs for children and young people in all 50 states and in 34 countries internationally. Globally, Red Nose Day has raised over $1 billion since its launch in the UK in 1988. The Auto and Tire Doctor purchases red noses at Walgreens and brings them to Truckee so you can stop by and get your red nose during the Month of May, since we don’t have a Walgreens here in town. For eleven Thursdays each summer, we transform Historic Downtown Truckee into an exciting street fair featuring local and regional artisans, food trucks, a beer garden and everyone's favorite, live music! Having family, friends, and coworkers that have all known someone diagnosed, the reality is often difficult to face. Sometimes we don’t know how to help. We don’t know what to say.
