Very rude on the phone on many occasions, don't provide enough fans in waiting area on hot days, not friendly when explaining the issues about your car, and I think they are very pricey $$$. And after the work has been done my car was …More

10 years ago I had a bad experience and said I'd never go back... gave them a second chance when I was in a pinch. They still suck. And they overcharge!

Got a run of the mill sidewall pinch flat from Truckee's wonderful winter roads. The folks here got my tire ordered quickly and took excellent care installing it, not damaging the wheel and torquing the wheel to spec. Will def. use again if needed.

I use a few shops in Truckee depending on the service I need. Last year I brought in my Yukon for a 50k service. 2 weeks after the service my car started leaking from a small plastic hose connector. Jason at the Auto Doctor had me bring it back in for a quick fix to replace the cheap part. 3 weeks later, the hoses started leaking again while I was down in Santa Cruz. A local SC ship fixed the hoses - somehow a crack developed in one of them. Jason reimbursed me for all the charges they applied. He also has thrown in two headlight replacements for the inconvenience. Needless to say, stuff just goes wrong on cars sometimes, but good employees like Jason strive to take care of the customer.

ZERO STARS...I took my 99 4runner in to have a freeze plug replaced. When I picked the car up A WEEK LATER they fixed freeze plug but they created an exhaust leak, a bumping sound when car went over bumps and the car no longer shifted from 4 wheel drive to 2 wheel drive on the fly. Made an appointment to have them fix these 3 items. Took it in early in the morning, came back late in the afternoon. They never took car for test drive to hear exhaust leak or clunking but did put it up in the air to check underneath. They found nothing wrong but assured me that as long as I STOPPED the car to change from 4 wheel drive to 2WD, it would shift. After giving them 2 chances to get it right I took it to another mechanic and he found loose bolts on exhaust and sway bar attachment bolts were only finger tight. The new mechanic adjusted bolts, fixed 4WD sensor and it all works good now. Very disappointed in the Auto Doctor in Truckee. I wouldn't use them if I were you.

I failed in attempting to replace my rotors on my jeep and they were able to use the parts and install them for me at a fair price. Great customer service and work done. I'll definitely be back for any other car needs.

The Auto & Tire Doctor

This past summer we had a family friends , mother and son , here from out of the country. The son was headed to University of Nevada Reno to stay for a Summer program. We left our home off hwy 50 more than 3 hours away for a quiet beautiful ride to Reno. Planning to stop for late lunch along the way and continuing to reassure a mom who was returning to their home country alone, her 19 yr son will be in safe hands and we are not far away. Over 90 minutes into the trip and More than 100 miles from home, the car overheated. We managed to make it off the freeway and found a local repair shop , The Auto Doctor. As the stress as to what could be wrong was the added stress of making sure we are able to get to the university by 5 pm to check in. In addition, trying to make sure our guest were calm as well. It was 1 pm plenty of time I told myself. Having enough knowledge to know what the simplest fix is to worst case scenario. It was determined a simple fix, radiator cap. Now , the car we were in was my husband baby, it had given us very few problems as he babies it and make sure it has it's regular visits to dealership for oil and fluid changes and of course washes. To date , we had very few issues with vehicle but what ones we had experienced, always seemed to require to have the part special ordered. It was no surprise The Auto Doctor didn't have the part on hand and had to look around. We went to lunch while the search for the part began and the radiator cap could be located. I had already started calling looking for a rental vehicle but had not been getting any calls back. About and hour or so later we received a call the part was found in Reno. I was trying to remain calm for our guest but inside was frustrated. All I could see was dollars signs in my head and now I had no part, no car ,no return call from any rental agencies nearby and the clock was ticking. The owner took my husband and I back to the vehicle and explained options. We could pay over $100 to get part here with no guarantee it would arrive in time to get back on road to get to the university by 5 pm. I explained my frustrations ,the fact I had yet to hear from any rental places and fear we were not going to make it in time to the university. The owner calmly shared, hey I know a few of local rental places let me call them. If we don't hear back in a few minutes, you can take my personal car and drive to Reno to make it by 5 pm. I was floored. This just wasn't something you hear everyday. Someone offering serious help to a complete stranger. Loaning his personal car so we could make it to University of Reno before the office closes. With in a few minutes a rental vehicle was out front and we we ready to go with no time to spare. We arrived at the university at 4:30 and spent the next 20 minutes trying to locate the correct office. We got there at 4:55pm. As we shared our adventure with the gals in the office, the all stated , "oh yeah you must be talking about The Auto Doctor. They are super people over there. The owner is a personal friend and that sounds just like him." We picked the car up a few days later. The price seemed more than fair. The customer service...... Well that is something I find difficult finding the proper words to share. It was service I can remember my parents and grand parents talking about getting similar service from the local business in the towns they grew up in and visited many many years ago. Thank you so very
