Truckee Auto Repair

Bob was very friendly and even took me in after hours because my car was overheating. After he checked the vehicle the next day he told me that he has bad news and that it was the head gasket; that it would take a week plus $1,200. That is the worth of my vehicle, so I declined. My sis in law had her son checked it out, and it was a sensor and my fan motor went out. I wish he would have checked all the possibilities so that it was fully checked out and not just a pressure test.

Not impressed. I had an appointment at 1:00 for an oil change and to check one of my tires that had a bulge. I hadn't heard anything by 4:30 pm so I called to check on the status. First thing the guy said was oh its ready. Then he said actually it is not ready and he would call back. He calls back and talks to my husband and says we have a bulge in the tire and we need new tires, he tells him yes that is why we brought it in. Representative then tells my husband he will call back with a quote for new tires. Again they do not call by 3:00 pm the next day. I have to call and check on the status, they say they are waiting for my new tires. They never called to tell me how much they would be or if I had options. So I ask when will my car be ready, they tell me by the afternoon. I show up at 5:00 car is not ready. I ask why they chose the tires they put on without consulting me, guy says they were all he could get in such short notice, I never said I was in a rush... really they never asked me anything. I asked why no one ever called and why I had to call.. all he said was sorry. Customer service should be a priority with auto shops, especially with the reputations mechanics can receive. I would not recommend this place, I feel taken advantage of and disrespected.

These guys are great. The Fairfield, CA Mercedes Dealer and two other Tire Dealers told us we needed to replace all 4 tires on our GLK. None of them had the tires in stock. We went to this store and met with Allen who told us that there is no need to replace any of the tires for at least another 8-10,000 miles. We would definitely recommend them and will return when it is time for replacement.

We just want to thank you guys for taking care of us last Wednesday, 7/16/14, when our Buick Roadmaster broke down on I-80 at Donner Summit. You diagnosed the problem and got us back on the road, and all the way back to Missouri. Its never fun to break down when you are away from home... we were lucky it happened near such capable mechanics. Thanks again, Bob and Pam Schlett Bolivar, MO

NOT THOROUGH!! NOT HONEST!! DONT TRUST!! My wife and I were visiting from out of town and our car was over heating. We took it to this place and they said our head gasket was leaking and would have to be replaced. $2,500 and a full week with no car was the Auto Doctors prescription to get us back on the road!!!! My car was officially totaled according to the Auto & Tire Doctor. I ended up towing the car over 200 miles to my mechanic at home and he replaced a sensor for $225. My car is totally FINE!!!! Lesson Learned: UNBURNED HYDROCARBONS are not a sign of a blown head gasket! If they tell you it is they are not being very thorough. Get a second opinion! Have someone else look at your car especially if your not local!!!

We broke down in our motorhome on the freeway near truckee and quickly asked Siri for repair centers near us. She gave us 6 choices. The first one wasn't interested because it was close to 5 o'clock. The second call went to the Auto Doctor who said, "Come on in". We met Bob, who is the general manager and he was awesome. He went out of his way to help and was very cordial. As far as we are concerned, there is only 1 repair center in Truckee, The Auto Doctor! Thanks Bob?

I had the best time tonight at Auto Care 101 at The Auto Doctor. It was free and they fed us and gave us gifts too! The Auto Doctor crew was so enthusiastic and gave demos/examples of each part etc. Thanks John for being such a collector for demonstration. A special thank you to Jami from AC Delco (?) for sharing her decades of experience on autos and why everything is in your car and what it does. Also a special thank you to Cindy for sharing her knowledge. It's great to see women sharing knowledge about an area mainly traveled by men. If you get a chance to attend one of these classes, I highly recommend it. I might go again so I can invite friends! It was fun!
